Review - Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta

Sometimes, a book crosses your radar which is so ludicrous it's hard to ignore it. I tried. I really did but in the end, succumbed as it was on Kindle Unlimited. I mean, who wouldn't?

I was fully prepared for the book to be awful. A book with a strange title can be the first warning sign you're about to enter literary hell, but I'm happy to report, not in this case. I'm fast becoming a fan of this author's writing. Despite the unlikely premise, Morning Glory is not only hugely fun - and let's face it, any book with that title isn't going to take itself too seriously - but also has a message about all getting along with each other despite our differences; whether they be horns or fur or loving someone not of your race. It's very lightly handled, but definitely there. I want to live in Cambric Creek!

Violet is great. She has smarts and sass, and seems an overall decent person. There's something endearing about someone who rates financial security by the brand of orange juice she is able to afford. Rourke, her best (and biggest) client, is actually a big softy, but not in the areas where it matters. Their love story is definitely sweet, if unconventional. He's a bull with a heart, who treats Violet as an equal and is completely devoid of the bullish traits which make a lot of hyper-masculine MC's so repellent (to me, anyway.)

But there's something else going on here, apart from affectionate mickey-taking of fellow kinksters (the Good Little Cows) and a tendency not to take itself too seriously. It feels like a subtle satirical poke at large corporations (notably the pharmaceutical industry,) and the state of the world in general, from intolerance to exploitation to sex work and peoples' attitudes toward it. It almost feels like (and I know this is a REAL punt,) a low-grade horror waiting to happen, where the humans are the enemy and Cambric Creek is the safe haven.

But I digress. This is a happy, heart-warming tale, a love story of opposites attract, with some sexy, steamy times for those who don't mind their heroes horny and hairy. Anyone who tries to tell me otherwise is talking bull.

BLURB

Violet is a typical, down-on-her-luck millennial: mid-twenties, over-educated and drowning in debt, on the verge of moving into her parent’s basement. When a lifeline appears in the form of a very unconventional job in neighboring Cambric Creek, she has no choice but to grab at it with both hands.

Morning Glory Milking Farm offers full-time hours, full benefits, and generous pay with no experience needed . . . there’s only one catch. The clientele is Grade A certified prime beef, with the manly, meaty endowments to match. Milking minotaurs isn’t something Violet ever considered as a career option, but she’s determined to turn the opportunity into a reversal of fortune.

When a stern, deep-voiced client begins to specially request her for his milking sessions, maintaining her professionalism and keeping him out of her dreams is easier said than done. Violet is resolved to make a dent in her student loans and afford name-brand orange juice, and a one-sided crush on an out-of-her-league minotaur is not a part of her plan—unless her feelings aren’t so one-sided after all. Morning Glory Milking Farm is a short human/monster romance novel (60k), featuring a high heat slow burn with a lot of heart, and a guaranteed HEA. CWs include: cock milking, non-human anatomy, size difference, and a lot of fluid. It is the first book in the Cambric Creek Monster Romance series, and can be read as a standalone.
